I’m watching Animal Planet right now and what do I see? A television show about black men in prison, working on a literal plantation, with literal white overseers (on fucking horseback!). What the hell is this? And why is it on the god-damned ANIMAL PLANET?

yeah the current prison system is just a way to maintain that facet of social control (you know, not letting go of slave labor?!) :| any good societal effects of prisons are of secondary importance to lawmakers
